The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department in the John and Marcia Price College of Engineering is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Program Assistant. This position provides support for the department and assists with the overall administration and development of specific department programs. The preferred applicant will have excellent written and verbal communication abilities, be self-motivated, professional, and have a service-minded mentality to help bring ECE’s vision and mission forward.

Responsibilities
1. Assists with program planning and implementation, including working with the faculty on assigning teaching assistants (TAs) each semester.
2. Collaborates to a high degree with many members of the faculty, staff, and student populations.
3. Provides administrative support to several departmental faculty committees. Compiles, sorts, and organizes data for entry into a database, distributes program information, and conducts program research.
4. Provides administrative support for the annual ECE Technical Open House event.
5. Processes department requests for keys, card access, conference room reservations, and facilities work orders.
6. Provides administrative support for payroll.
7. Answers telephones and gives information to callers, takes messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
8. Greets visitors and communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints.
9. Responds to queries from and coordinates activities with other departments, the community, and program partners.
10. Assists in the creation and distribution of program materials, forms, and general correspondence.
11. May track and report on current trends to determine future program needs.
12. May provide program specific training.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving
Incumbents in this position are expected to be familiar with the department’s policies and procedures and have working knowledge of University and department organizations and procedures in order to answer and assist staff and visitors. Incumbents are also expected to demonstrate sensitivity to others’ needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years of related experience required; ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks; computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet software, and/or database software preferred; demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
