Principal Duties
Specifically, the Laundry Worker will be:
Performing general maintenance on commercial washer and dryer.
Sorting, washing, drying and delivering clothes and linens to appropriate apartments/locations.
Maintaining, organizing supplies in the laundry area.

Example of Duties
Assisting in marking the clothing and linen items to prevent loss of property.
Driving a vehicle for pick-up or delivery of laundry.
Performing laundry production operations in a high risk environment to include sorting, loading, washing, drying, sanitizing, folding, counting, weighing, recording production quantities and using industrial laundry equipment.
Operating, maintaining, and cleaning dryer vents, and washer drains.
Keeping laundry area clean and organized, notifying supervisors of needed repairs.
Inspecting facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc., to verify safety, maintenance, conditions, functions, and quality.
Inventorying supplies needed for the machines.

potential risks involved with handling clothes and linens contaminated with body fluids
sort, load, wash, dry, sanitize, fold, count, and weigh clothes and/or linens
blood borne pathogens (BBP) and appropriate safety procedures if cross contamination occurs
follow oral and written instructions

Supplemental Information
Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. being subject to possible physical attack, etc..
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
Depending on area of assignment, a valid driver’s license may be required.
The USDC is a smoke free environment. No tobacco use is allowed on the campus grounds.
