Utah Board of Education (USBE) is seeking an Educator Development Specialist to oversee work by the USBE related to teacher professional learning, growth, and mentoring, including work on furthering teacher leadership opportunities for LEAs.

Principal Duties
As an Educator Development Specialist, you will:

Support the implementation of the Professional Learning Standards for educators adopted by the USBE.
Be part of the Quality Instruction team and will collaborate with other specialists on the implementation of the Utah Effective Teaching Standards (UETS)
Coordinate and collaborate with the Hope Street Teacher Fellows to promote Teacher Leadership competencies across Utah and build teacher leaders.
Manage the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Title II, Part A: Preparing, Training and Recruiting High Quality Teachers, Principals or Other School Leaders Grant.
Build capacity for collective efficacy for student learning across Utah schools and districts through facilitating professional learning, coaching leaders, and promoting best instructional and professional learning community practices.
Support the Teacher of the Year program by coordinating nominations, processes, and events throughout the year as well as connecting outstanding teachers to professional learning opportunities to leverage expertise across content areas.
Promote “systems thinking” throughout USBE and build capacity for other specialists to meet the needs of schools and districts in their respective areas of influence through connection to others and professional learning.

Meets challenges with a growth mindset that thinks critically, seeks solutions, and solves problems.
Has shown a strong record of effective instructional decision making and has supported other educators in high-leverage practices that have resulted in student growth.
Enjoys working with passionate people who want to collaborate to create, plan, and implement resources and practices that create powerful learning environments in every school.
Has experience as a teacher leader who has a record of taking their learning to others and building the capacity of the school culture to better serve students through collective efficacy.
Preference
Preference may be given to candidates which have:
Has a BA/BS degree, Master’s degree is a plus
Has a State of Utah Educator License, Instructional Coaching and/or Mentoring Endorsement a plus
Has worked as a teacher mentor and/or teacher leader capacity on committees for the school/district

The Educator Development Specialist is a licensed professional level job that will be an expert in the development and improvement of one or more educational, curricular or administrative specialties in the elementary and secondary schools of the state.
