The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.

May underfill as Parks/Trails Maintenance Specialist I

The Opportunity:
Under general guidance and supervision of the Parks or Trails Maintenance Supervisor, performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work to clean and maintain Utah County parks, parkways, and trails. Incumbent performs duties of considerable difficulty that require some independent judgment.

Starting Pay:
Parks/Trails Maintenance Specialist II $20.77 – $23.86 Hourly

Starting Pay:
Parks/Trails Maintenance Specialist I $19.34 – $22.25

Schedule:
Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job Qualifications:
Parks/Trails Maintenance Specialist II
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Four (4) years of work experience related to duties described above.
3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1. Selected applicants must obtain the following during the probationary period for new hires or the trial period for promoted County employees and maintain the following certifications throughout employment:
a. Forklift Operator Certification
b. State of Utah Pesticide Certification
c. Complete a defensive driving class
d. County employees reassigned, transferred, or advanced through career ladder to this classification must possess said certifications and licensure upon reassignment, transfer, or career ladder advancement.
2. Selected applicants must complete one

(1) or more of the following classes/certifications during the probationary period for new hires or the trial period for promoted County employees and maintain the following certifications throughout employment:
a. State of Utah Commercial Drivers License (Class A)
b. Master Gardener Certification
c. Arboriculture Certification
d. Backflow Certification
e. Sawyer Certification
f. Qualified Water Efficient Landscape (QWEL) Certification
g. Irrigation Technician Certification with the Irrigation Association
h. County employees reassigned, transferred, or advanced through career ladder to this classification must possess said certifications and licensure upon reassignment, transfer, or career ladder advancement.

Job Qualifications:
Parks/Trails Maintenance Specialist I
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years of work experience related to the duties described above.
3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1. Selected applicants must obtain certification as a Forklift Operator and complete a defensive driving class during the probationary period for new hires or during the trial period for promoted County employees.
