JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Utah County Assessor’s office is responsible for classifying all property in the county; in cooperation with the Recorder’s office, associate ownership with the property; establishing a taxable value for all property subject to property taxation; and compiling this information into reports that are utilized by the Auditor’s office to calculate tax rates and the Treasurer’s office for collections.

POSITION: Assessment Technician II POSTING #: 6550-0124sr

The Opportunity:
Under general guidance and direction of the assigned supervisor, performs clerical and support duties to expedite customer service, data entry, and record keeping responsibilities of the County Assessor’s Office. May perform specific assignments in the area of real or personal property. Incumbents in this role have considerable knowledge of the policies, procedures, and laws affecting the work of the Assessor’s Office.
Starting Pay: Grade 719 Step A: $20.77 – Step G: $23.86 Hourly
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Five (5) years of general clerical support work experience, including two (2) years related to taxation, accounting, real estate, construction, or a similar profession.
3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes:
1. Preference may be given to applicants with an associate degree in a related field.
2. Preference may be given to applicants who have a documented typing speed at or above the rate of forty (40) WPM net.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1. Selected applicants must have completed and passed the Utah State Tax Commission Courses “Assessment Practice in Utah”, “Development & Use of Personal Property Schedules”, and a two-day Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices course within the first twelve (12) months in position. The time requirement may be adjusted based on the schedule of offered classes.
2. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a valid State of Utah driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment.
3. Selected applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
4. Incumbent must be bondable.
