Utah Valley University is in search of a Coordinator! Working under the direction of the Native American Excellence Opportunity Director, this role coordinates student programs focused on increasing college enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation rates within the Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native student population at UVU. This role coordinates partnerships and outreach across and outside of campus, focused on increasing college enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation rates within the Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native student population at UVU. They will also coordinate with Academic Affairs departments to increase and support Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native student engagement in curricular and co-curricular programs; coordinate with community organizations, and K-12 Title VI partnerships.

Summary of Responsibilities
Maintains an advising caseload of incoming and continuing Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native undergraduate students, in terms of advisement and other school-related support. Responds to informational requests from potential students, new and continuing students, parents, staff, and high school counselors via a variety of methods (e.g. e-mail, phone, in-person, in the field, etc.)
Assists students with the enrollment, registration, financial aid and scholarship processes; including tribal scholarship and grant information and processes. Provides recommendations and referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources that students may need.

Collaborates with internal and external campus stakeholders, such as Academic Affairs, and title VI partners, to increase opportunities for leadership, learning, community-building, and academic success for Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native students at UVU.
Coordinates data collection and facilitates program and impact assessment to monitor student engagement and involvement to show impact on persistence, retention, and graduation.

Assists in facilitating workshops and training on campus focused on coordinating resources and social networks to support student development and engagement for Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native students.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in roles with significant student contact supporting Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in roles with significant student contact supporting Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native students. 1+ year of experience working with Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native Tribal government and/or liaisons.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of advising, retention, and completion strategies for Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native student populations.
Demonstrates significant understanding of Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native student identities within higher education contexts.
Demonstrated experience advising college students and/or student organizations grounded in theoretical framework.
Knowledge of and experience in developing and presenting training programs and/or workshops for employees and students.

Skills:
Must possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Must possess strong skills in facilitating dialogues about diversity, inclusion, equity, and Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native issues.
Must demonstrate interpersonal, technical, analytical, marketing, and resource development skills necessary for program effectiveness.
Demonstrated competency in computer software and diverse programs necessary for position responsibilities.
Demonstrated skills in developing professional relationships with students.
Abilities:
Ability to provide one-on-one support and resources for students that include but are not limited to: dealing with identity development, coping with campus climate concerns, struggling with academic demands, etc.
Must demonstrate the ability to foster and build collaborative work environments.
Ability to work successfully with a diverse student body and staff and possess a strong commitment to creating an inclusive environment for staff and students, the delivery of programs that support the diversity objective of the campus community, and the development of cultural competency skills.
Ability to assist in planning and executing small- and large-scale events.
Ability to assist in fostering collaborative efforts with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to represent the Native American Student Success Center through serving on community committees and building effective partnerships.
