Under the supervision of the Home and Community/4H Extension agent, the successful candidate will assist in promoting and organizing educational classes and programming. Experience and skills in Family & Consumer Sciences (home ec) areas are mandatory. Experience working with youth. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision once instruction has been given. The position is part-time and will involve some weekend and evening work. A background check will be mandatory. Some lifting and carrying required. This position is housed in Tooele, UT.
Assist in planning and preparing programs in home and community (home economics) areas for adults such as healthy living, family and personal finance, nutrition and physical activity.
Assist in planning and running classes and camps for youth such as : personal finance, sewing, cooking, cloverbuds (K-2nd grade 4Hers), youth entrepreneurship, etc.
Organize and run social media campaigns and challenges
Work collaboratively with 4H staff to offer general Extension programming
MUST be available for Tooele County Fair preparation and activities July 31-August 5.
Occasional night and weekend work
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience and skills in Home and Community (home economics) areas
Public speaking skills – must present workshops to youth, adults and families
Ability to work with children effectively while teaching a skill and keeping group in control
Critical: Ability to work independently and effectively once instruction has been given.
Must be a self-starter and get things done.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in running facebook groups, promoting events and campaigns through social media.
Experience presenting in public, writing for publications, planning programs
Experience grant writing
Availability to drive and chaperone youth to overnight activities
February-May 10-20 hrs/week then June-Aug 20-25 hours. $15/hour.
