Duties
As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist (Migration Corridor Coordinator) your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

The Selectee brings together managers, scientists, policy makers, and land stewards to develop and promote collaborative landscape conservation and adaptive resource management principles and applications identified to protect and enhance migration pathways.
Provides coordination of activities to ensure relevance and excellence in the integration of migration science and land stewardship into national, regional, and programmatic policies, plans, and operational programs.
Reviews, analyzes, formulates, and summarizes outcomes and effects of policy, technology, and pilot programs to inform cross-cutting initiatives and multi-bureau efforts. Analyzes Service programs and recommends improvements or corrections in program objectives and operations to maximize adoption of technology transfers and emerging science.
Closely coordinates and collaborates with USDA on Farm Bill conservation programs. Provides recommendations to Service leadership regarding conservation provisions of the Farm Bill.
Supports the development and coordination of partnerships by creating, guiding, facilitating, and nurturing interdependent networks among the State fish and wildlife and conservation agencies, Tribal Partners, sister bureaus in the Department of Interior, USDA, and Service programs as well as other federal agencies, organizations, and partnerships sufficient to support landscape-scale approaches to management of migration pathways.

Basic Requirement 0401 Series:
Education: Successful completion of a course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position. NOTE: Transcripts required. OR
Combination: Possess an appropriate combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e. 24 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position; PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. The quality of the combination must demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above. NOTE: Transcripts required and Your resume must contain sufficient detail of this level of work, i.e., complete begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration.
Minimum Qualification GS-0401-13
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized Experience must include at least 3 of 5 requirements: 1) Coordinate conservation projects or initiatives with diverse collaborative conservation partnerships that involve private landowners, conservation organizations, state, and federal agencies, or Tribes. 2). Develop, initiate, and coordinate efforts and progress toward common goals of statewide and regional strategic plans that include objectives, activities, timetables, and evaluations of outcomes. 3) Presentation of information to interested parties and writing briefing papers summarizing scientific findings, policy, and field of practice for policy or habitat management recommendations. 4) Broad knowledge of existing habitat enhancement activities of the states and the federal government; including, but not limited to land use programs of USDA. 5) Coordinates organizational activities to ensure integration of wildlife science and land stewardship into national, regional, and programmatic policies, plans, and operational programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school’s definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
