Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday (20 hours) 5:00 am – 10:00 am Flexible

Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for keeping the Syracuse Community Center and Jensen Visitor Center visually pleasing, clean, running, and functional. To execute that goal, this individual will be responsible for performing the following duties: cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning windows, carpet cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping floors, cleaning gymnasium areas and equipment room, maintaining the building structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, routine inspections and maintenance, restocking of supplies, perform minor electrical maintenance such as: replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.); using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools; perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.), performing minor HVAC work (e.g. adjusting and calibrating thermostats, and changing designated system filters), perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
This position will also perform preventative maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with the Community Center grounds (i.e., parking lot, landscape beds, turf area). Perform snow removal of walkways around the Community Center, assist Recreation Manager in coordination with contractors to obtain cost estimates and perform work, and other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in general custodial practices.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor cleaners (e.g., carpet, hardwood, laminate).
Ability to perform manual labor, including working on ladders, lifts, rooftops, or in cold, hot
or dusty conditions.
Knowledge of proper safety precautions when using cleaning agents, lifting heavy objects, or when
performing maintenance duties in hazardous settings.
Skilled in: Handling multiple projects with interruptions; Prioritizing and organizing workload to meet
Deadlines.
Ability to: Use common hand, power, and specialty tools as well as miscellaneous office equipment.
receive, understand, and follow directions as given; work with minimal supervision, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, handle, feel, climb, balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cleaning agents, risk of electrical shock, hazards associated with HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Equipment work. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, to high, precarious places, and to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate or moderate loud noise.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18+ years of age
High school diploma or GED
2 years of related experience and/or training
Valid Class ‘D’ Utah Driver’s License
