The new Return Utah program is similar to an internship designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence. These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring an individual needs to return to the workforce.

Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break of at least two years for reasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, military service, continuing education, or other personal/career related reasons.

The program will commence on Tuesday September 6 2022, with the first week of the program consisting of learning, development and workplace orientation.

This is a part-time intent-to-hire Return Utah opportunity. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, participants may receive an offer of employment.

UServeUtah is seeking an AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the Senior Companion and Foster Grandparent programs in Carbon, Emery, and Grand counties. The selected individual will be responsible for the daily management of these programs including recruitment, training and volunteer placement. The coordinator will be actively involved with volunteers, volunteer locations and community organizations and will communicate and coordinate with the Program Manager and other Program Coordinators in different parts of the state.

Essential Duties
As the AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator, you will typically:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Americorps Seniors Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs in Carbon, Emery, and Grand counties.
Understand program policies and AmeriCorps Seniors administrative requirements to ensure compliance.
Coordinate recruiting, selecting, enrolling, orienting, training, recognizing and placing volunteers with community partners.
Supervise all volunteers to efficiently develop and carry out activities of the program.
Provide ongoing training and support to volunteers.
Oversee development, training and coordination of partnerships and program activities with local community partners.
Develop and maintain close coordinated relationships with volunteer stations, including development of volunteer assignment plans.
Assess appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.
Maintain appropriate program and volunteer records and reports in accordance with federal guidelines and requirements.
Track agreed upon performance measures and coordinate reporting of statistics and outcomes for the program.
Market and communicate the AmeriCorps Seniors Program and services to the public.
Participate as a volunteer for organizations and programs with senior populations.
Perform other work duties and responsibilities as required.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal person for this position will possess:2-3 years work experience in public administration, education, community/regional planning, human services or social/behavioral science or undergraduate degree in a related field. Previous experience working with those over 55 years of age and volunteers a plus.
Interest in and energy for volunteerism and community building.
Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through in an independent, responsible manner.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Skilled at facilitation and system collaboration, information sharing and team building.
Excellent written and verbal communication, and computer skills.
Ability and willingness to travel frequently to various locations throughout Carbon, Emery, and Grand counties.
Must reside in either Carbon, Emery or Grand county.
Preference may be given to those with experience working with AmeriCorps or Senior Corps programs.

This job involves some time in a home office, as well as time in community settings and at events or gatherings. There may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
