Are you in need of a part time job working weekends? The Utah State Developmental Center located in American Fork, is looking for an energetic person to fill the overnight switchboard position. We are needing someone who can be flexible with their schedule to provide coverage for the other Switchboard Operator’s when taking time off such as vacation, sick time and holiday(s). When not covering these other shifts the work hours for this position will just be on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. This position guarantees 16 hours per week.

The part time Switchboard Operator will perform a range of general and agency-specific office/clerical tasks requiring general office skills, and have a comprehensive knowledge of pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

The tasks will include:

Managing a multi-line switchboard and directing calls
Preparing and processing documents
Copying and collating documents
Creating and/or maintaining record keeping systems
Other tasks may include, but are not limited to: operating camera/scanner, processing mail, ordering and distributing supplies; assisting the public and others to locate, view or assemble filmed, scanned, or archived documents and/or information.
An ideal candidate will have:Prior professional switchboard experience.
A working knowledge of general office equipment.
Prior record keeping experience.
Prior data entry experience.
Flexibility and desire to provide coverage for various work schedules.
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH ONE OR MORE YEARS OF FULL TIME PAID EXPERIENCE WORKING AS A SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR AND INTERMEDIATE OR HIGHER EXPERIENCE WTH DATA ENTRY AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT. YOUR RESUME MUST SUPPORT YOUR EXPERIENCE.

The mission of the Utah State Developmental Center is to serve as “a statewide resource center for people with disabilities while promoting opportunity through choice and outcome based support.” This will be accomplished by providing critical services, support and resources for the intellectually disabled individuals that reside at our facility. The Office Clerk III will assist in this process by providing accurate information to both the public and staff as requested and by directing calls to the appropriate areas as they come in. Example of Duties
 

Answering multi-line switchboard call and directing calls with accuracy and professionalism.
Preparing and/or process documents; review for accuracy and completeness; update information and/or evaluate against policy; compare elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc.
Maintaining and/or creating files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files and retrieves documents, or other materials.
Coordinating and/or acting as a liaison between agency or work unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, suppliers, etc.
Copying and collating documents, sends faxes and performs similar office tasks.

Supplemental Information
 

In order to work at the Utah State Developmental Center as part of the CMS COVID-19 mandate, you must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least your first dose of the two shot series and have scheduled the 2nd dose before you start.
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
You must successfully pass a criminal history check.

Schedule: When not covering shifts for co-workers, the work hours will be Friday and Saturday night from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. We are a 24 hours facility which includes the following shifts: days, afternoons and graveyards.
