Job Description
The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a responsible and meticulous candidate to fill our Food Service Worker position working at our Springville Campus.

**The working schedule for this position is 182 days a year in conjunction with the school year, 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, five days a week.**

Principal Duties
The job duties of a Food Service Worker are as follows:

Bakes, cooks, prepares, or heats planned meal components from recipes or from written or verbal instruction.
Assembles dishes for serving including gathering components, cutting, mixing, or otherwise compiling ingredients.
Prepares serving area as planned for breakfast and lunch meal services.
Serves food for school breakfast and lunch meal service.
Breaks down serving line, cleans dishes and kitchen space
Properly restocks food, condiments, and supplies.
Communicates with kitchen staff and students to provide a pleasant meal service.
Ensures that food is maintained at appropriate temperatures, surfaces are properly sanitized, and products are properly stored and labeled.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

The Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
Have a current food handlers permit or be able to acquire one within two weeks of hire.
Have at least one year prior food service experience, preferably preparing and/or serving food in a cafeteria type setting.
Understand how to consider special dietary needs and food allergies in a foodservice environment.
Know how to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment and correctly use chemical cleansers and sanitizing agents.
Be sensitive and professional in interacting with individuals who are low vision, blind, hearing impaired, deaf, or deaf blind.
Able to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lb and push or pull wheeled carts up to 80 lb. Able to stand for long periods of time.
Be able to complete a criminal background check.

Supplemental Information
This position requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities and recurring lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.

Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with hazardous chemicals, etc.
This is a full-time position, 182 days a year in coordination with the school year. Work schedule Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
