Job Description:
Do you enjoy assisting a variety of people each day? Then consider applying for a Motor Vehicle Technician position with the Provo DMV office. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level criminal background check.

Job Duties
As a Motor Vehicle Technician, you will:

Issue license plates, permits, registrations, certificates, etc.
Receive, research and respond to incoming questions or complaints; provide information, explain policy and procedures, and/or facilitate a resolution.
Process transactions at a Point of Sale system, give correct change and close cash drawer at end of shift.
Assist the public and others to complete forms, applications and other paperwork.
Examine documents to verify applicability, legibility, completeness, accuracy, and/or consistency of information from one document to another, etc.

Previous motor vehicle experience

The office is at 150 E Center Suite 1400 Provo, Utah 84606

Salary
Non-state employees are hired for this position at $18.73 an hour. We are unable to negotiate hourly wage amounts. DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers for current state employees.

Retirement – Utah Retirement Systems (URS):Employees hired on or after than 7/1/2011 and have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
Paid Time Off:Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
Annual leave increases with years of service.
There are also 12 paid holidays.

The Agency
The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a division under the Utah State Tax Commission. The primary duty of the DMV is to issue title and registration for Utah vehicles, including passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, motor homes, off-highway vehicles, boats, and snowmobiles.

Working Conditions

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Physical RequirementsTypically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
