taking extra shifts at certain times during the week.

Would you like to achieve success and fulfillment while helping intellectually disabled individuals reach their highest level of independence? Join our team of dedicated Caregivers (Direct Support Professionals) at the Utah State Developmental Center providing compassionate care to the individuals that reside at our facility. We offer full time employment at 40 hours per week.

Principal Duties
As a Caregiver (Direct Support Professional) you will have a working knowledge of the following duties:Implementing and evaluating active treatment programs for the individuals.
Preparing and serving meals while following dietary guidelines.
Performing direct care services to include bathing, showering, dressing, toileting or changing incontinent briefs (diapering), and oral hygiene.
Participating in and monitoring the pushing of wheelchairs across campus getting the individuals to their prescribed activities and jobs.
Supervising and participating in activities with the individuals.
Understanding the developmental needs of others.
Coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities.
Observing, reporting and documenting the behavior of the individuals.

The Ideal Candidate
An ideal candidate for this position will be able to:Follow prescribed schedules and treatment plans
Show compassion, reliability and provide excellent care
Display excellent communication skills and positive attitude
Properly manage aggressive, self-abusive, and non-compliant individuals and be able to implement and follow prescribed behavioral programs
Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use mechanical lifts where required and transfer individuals correctly; etc.

Ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
Ability to observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.
Ability to hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.
Ability to verbally communicate safety concerns to others.

Supplemental Information

In order to work at the Utah State Developmental Center as part of the CMS COVID-19 mandate, you must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least your first dose of the two shot series and have scheduled the 2nd dose before you start.
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
You must successfully pass a criminal history check.
