JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Division of Reentry and Rehabilitation is seeking a caseworker to join our team of skilled professionals to work with parolees. Our division provides evidence-based, individualized interventions to safely reintegrate justice-involved individuals back into the community. Our goal is to develop and carry out high-quality, evidence-based programs aimed at improving individual outcomes and enhancing community safety by implementing strategies, promoting accountability, and strengthening partnerships while maintaining positive work with incarcerated clients at our Central Utah Correctional Facility.
Note: Based upon the applicant’s qualifications, the Division may underfill this position at a Case Worker I position.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Licensure as a Social Service Worker or Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor
Experience working with substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment
Experience teaching educational classes
Experience in case management principles
Effective speaking, reading, and written communication skills
Knowledge of risk assessments and criminogenic risk factors

THE AGENCY:
Responsibilities
Coordinates efforts to find appropriate services (housing, transportation, employment, medical, mental health and other social services) from community providers, collateral agencies and other community partners.
Provides psycho-educational classes to address criminogenic risks and counseling for offenders with substance use disorders and mental health disorders. Services may also be provided to family members.
Helps clients to obtain necessary identification (i.e birth certificate, drivers license, tribal ID, etc.)
Provides written and verbal communication with Adult Probation and Parole Agents and Supervisor on treatment progression.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Human behavior and performance, risk and needs assessments, behavioral health management.
Community services of community providers, collateral agencies and other community partners for housing, transportation, medical, mental health and other social services.
Psycho-educational classes and cognitive behavioral techniques.
Computer skills, Microsoft Office products, Google Docs, and UDC software.
Justice system, rules, records, procedures and protocol.
Compose and produce reports, documents, and related material.
Use of interviewing techniques such as motivational interviewing.

Job Series:
This job may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.
Caseworker I
Salary Range: $18.31 – $27.47
Caseworker II
Salary Range: $20.38 – $30.64 Note: At this level, the best qualified individuals will have obtained certification as a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor or licensure as a Social Service Worker.
Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., being subject to possible physical attack. Institutional/Correctional surroundings and hazards, including being subject to possible physical attack. Safety and risk issues inherent while working within a correctional facility with an offender population are presumed.
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
May be required to provide 24 hour on call services. Policy requires employee to provide on-call services to respond to situations which may occur during non-duty hours.
