The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR), a Division of the Department of
Workforce Services, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a 16-week, paid internship
opportunity as Office Assistant in our Taylorsville Vocational Rehabilitation office as part of our Return Utah Program. The individual in this position will not work more than 30 hours per week.
The new Return Utah program is similar to an internship designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence. These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring an individual needs to return to the workforce.

Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break of at least two years for reasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, military service, continuing education, or other personal/career related reasons.

The program will commence on Tuesday September 6, 2022, with the first week of the program consisting of learning, development and workplace orientation.

This is an experience-only Return Utah opportunity. Please note, that while we will provide access to resources that will enable you to explore further employment opportunities, your participation does not guarantee employment with the State of Utah upon conclusion of the program.

USOR is focused on providing people with disabilities counseling, guidance, and
supportive services necessary for them to engage in effective job preparation, seeking
and employment. In this context, the successful applicant will participate in day-to-day
office support activities including: taking calls and correctly directing clients and
potential applicants to the necessary resources, assisting with front desk reception
duties and helping to prepare outreach materials.

Principle Duties:Assist with inbound calls from clients seeking resources or appointment scheduling.
Assist with front desk reception duties.
Assist with outbound appointment reminder calls.
Provide general office support including copying, scanning, faxing, and email communication.
Assist with setup for applicant orientations.
Assist with setup for any in-office meetings.
Assist with outreach activities.
Assist with case management activities and helping to gather information under the direction of VR staff.
Attend community events and committees with VR staff.
Attend relevant trainings and professional development activities

The Ideal Candidate:
The model applicant for this internship is someone who can demonstrate:Strong customer service skills.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Experience working with people with disabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Computer expertise using Word, Gmail, and spreadsheet software.
