The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a responsible Driver to join our team. This position is located in Salt Lake City and travel is required in the Tooele School District area.
*This is a part-time position working nine months during the school year, 181 days. Work schedule is Monday – Friday, 29 hours a week.*
Principal Duties
As a Driver you will:
Drives a car, passenger or courier van, bus, or truck for pick-up and delivery of materials, or transportation of staff, clients, inmates, etc.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
Detects and eliminates or minimizes safety hazards.
Inspects vehicle for safety, fuel, oil and water before departure.
Services equipment with fuel, oil and other needs: checks fluid levels, cleans equipment and vehicles externally and internally, replaces bulbs and filters, etc.
The Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will possess:Valid Utah’s Driver License
Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
valid Utah driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a).
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
