Job Description
The Department of Correction is looking for a part-time working level Dietician II that assist with the nutritional aspects of inmate care, provides dietetic services and oversees food service delivery in an institutional setting. Coordinate with food service staff to ensure regular and special diets are planned, prepared, and served in compliance with nutritional and regulatory requirements.
Example of Duties
Assesses patient needs. Develops and implements plans to meet those needs.
Analyzes, summarizes and reviews data; reports findings, interprets results and makes recommendations.
Analyze and test items. Interpret results and implement changes.
Plans and manages projects and programs.
Recommends, advocates, and implements new changes to existing policies, procedures, laws or regulations.
Delivers presentations and trainings to staff, management, clients, or the general public.
Coordinates activities with institutional needs and enforces security regulations on or off property.
Typical Qualifications
Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
Identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities.
Diagnosis and therapeutic intervention.
Principles, theories, and practice of foods and nutrition.

Perform group and client therapeutic assessments.
Applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies and procedures.
Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.
Read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with contract terms, policies and procedures, etc.
Train institutional staff in therapy procedures, methods, and techniques.
Deliver presentations or training using acceptable methods and techniques.
Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.
Coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and organizations.
Monitor or track information or data.
Supplemental Information
Licensure as a registered dietician is required. 58-49-7. Certificates Licensure. (1) Any person who meets the certification qualifications of this chapter shall receive a certificate stating that he/she has met these qualifications.
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
NOTE: Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state employees.
Current UDC employees hourly rate will be subjected to the Career Ladder.
