This position’s main responsibility is the implementation and evaluation of the USSP (Utah’s Stradegy for Suicide Prevention) grant.

WWill coordinate the implementation of USSP, implementation of evidence based suicide prevention trainings and practices within Utah’s 20 nonmetropolitan counties, particularly with Utahns, age 55 and older. Coordinate with Northeastern Counseling Center to provide programming, including evidence-based suicide prevention trainings, Rapid Follow Up and social connectedness activities in the Tri-County area. Collaborate with research and evaluation teams to evaluate the USSP grant, including the ability to design evaluation, collect and analyze data and complete reporting to DHHS and SAMHSA.

Ideal candidate

Bachelor’s Degree in public health or closely related field, and at least 5 years of experience in public health administration.
Master’s degree and/or 3 years of federal grant management experience.
5 years experience working with individuals age 55 and older.
Professional experience working with Utah’s most rural communities.

Note: as of April 8, 2024, DHHS employees will be working a hybrid schedule, which includes 2 office days per week and 3 telework days.

Supplemental Information
 

Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
This position may currently be a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position’s eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time and for any reason.
Generally the best qualified individuals will have previous experience in suicide prevention programming, with older adults and Utahns living in rural areas of the state.
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
