Are you looking for a career that make a real difference? Well this position with the Utah Birth Defect Network at the Utah Department of Health may be just what you are looking for. The primary function of this position is to provide support efforts with initial identification of birth defect cases and assign to abstractors. As well as support in reviewing critical congenital heart defect cases.
As a valued member of our team you will be cross training to complete the initial case ascertainment from reporting sources and assign cases to the UBDN Abstractors. You will also be trained to review failed or missed CCHD screening results and calling hospitals, midwives, and providers to train them on CCHD screening protocol.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of issues related to birth defects and/or maternal child health
Microsoft Access skills
An ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally, and in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
An ability to analyze issues and reach sound conclusions

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Education, Health Promotion, or Public Health
An ability to perform complex research and program tasks requiring independent judgement

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Be aware that salary ranges specified reflect a minimum starting and top of range dollar amount. Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
