Job Title: Regulatory Navigator Communications Specialist
Location: Taylorsville, Utah
Job Description:
The Regulatory Navigator Communication Specialist is a new position in the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) Marketing and Economic Development Division and is part of UDAF’s role within the USDA Southwest Regional Food Business Center (SWRFBC). This position will work closely with the Regulatory Services Division, other Marketing and Economic Development Division programs including Utah’s Own, USU Extension, and local farm and food businesses to help businesses understand regulatory requirements.
This position will not inspect businesses or enforce regulatory compliance, but will focus on making plain-language resources such as graphics, website updates, and decision trees to make regulatory requirements more clear to existing and prospective food businesses.The employee will conduct needs assessments and stakeholder listening sessions to determine areas of focus. Employee will also raise awareness of Southwest Regional Food Business Center, act as a UDAF representative at SWRFBC meetings, and may provide technical assistance and information about other available grants and resources as appropriate.
This is a full-time, time-limited position. Funding for this position was made possible by the USDA Regional Food Business Centers program and is secured through 9/29/2028. Continuing the position beyond that date is contingent upon securing

Responsibilities
Regulatory Outreach and Support: Respond to inquiries from food businesses regarding regulatory requirements, providing clear and concise information.
Resource Development: Collaborate with regulatory staff to create user-friendly resources such as FAQs, one-pagers, decision trees, and website updates to simplify complex regulations.
Training and Education: Conduct workshops, presentations, and listening sessions to educate food businesses on regulatory compliance and best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, including food businesses, industry associations, and government agencies.
Program Coordination: Coordinate with other Marketing and Economic Development Division programs to ensure alignment and maximize impact.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Track and analyze key metrics to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties, such as scheduling meetings, managing project timelines, and preparing reports.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., business, communications, agriculture) or equivalent experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Valid driver’s license.
