The Utah Department of Corrections is seeking an outgoing, independent thinker, with an eye for detail and a deep-rooted passion for supply management to join our team as a Purchasing Technician II. Is willing to achieve and improve targeted purchasing standards and goals.
What you’ll do for the Clinical Service Bureau
Assist with purchasing goods
Ensure appropriate use of state funds, division policies, and state finance purchasing procedures
Use automated accounting and/or financial computer systems
Invoice analysis
Obtain documents, and tabulate quotes on items covered by existing contracts
Maintain and create files or record keeping system
Plan, prepare and coordinate shipment/delivery of supplies, equipment, furniture or related materials
Manage inventory levels and targets
Managing supply and demand within the product supply chain
What you need to succeed
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
Strong focus on details and quality.
Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills in a medical environment.
Maintain inventory, track receipt, sending, and delivery of materials.
Demonstrated experience with process improvements.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Experience within a purchasing role and / or with receiving, inventory management, or assist management.
Preference
Preference may be given for the following:
Knowledge of supply ordering
Experience working in a medical supply and equipment environment
Experience and knowledge working in a medical field
Experience with medical supplies

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to and over 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Employees are required to have a current, valid and clear driver license.

Salary will be based on the Career Ladder for current UDC employees.
Salary ranges specified reflect a minimum starting and top of range dollar amount. Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
