The Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) is looking for the best and brightest to take our Medical department to the next level. If you have passion and expertise in the medical field as a Physician Assistant, the Department of Corrections in Gunnison is the place for you.
Under the direction of the supervising physician, the Physician Assistant (PA) will provide general medical care, assessments, evaluation, treatment and some minor surgery for patients in the Utah State Prison in accordance with the Physician Assistant Medical Practice Act. The selected candidate may also direct/supervise medical staff.
Minimum RequirementsCurrent licensure as Physician Assistant in the State of Utah.
Current licensure as Controlled Substance Handler in the State of Utah.
Successful candidates will possess:A solid understanding of principles, theories, and practices of medicine.
A knowledge of agency objectives, organization, structure and mission.
An understanding of interactions and adverse reactions of drugs, medications and their dosage.
A knowledge of operating applicable specialized equipment.
A knowledge of and ability to diagnose medical conditions.
Experience performing medical procedures.

Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
