As a DNR Mechanic, Duties Include:
The Division of Outdoor Recreation is excited to announce the recruitment for a DNR Mechanic position. This critical role involves a variety of skilled tasks focused on inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and operating a fleet of recreational vehicles and heavy equipment. Our fleet includes diesel, 4-stroke and 2-stroke gasoline, and electric-powered equipment such as snow cats, boats, off-highway vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, trailers, motor vehicles, backhoes, bulldozers, and front-end loaders. Your expertise will ensure the safety, reliability, and enjoyment of outdoor recreation for residents and visitors across our state.

Ensure smooth functioning of equipment.
Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to identify any issues and document your findings.
Utilize diagnostic testing and calibration tools to inspect parts for wear, damage, or defects and perform necessary repairs.
Develop work procedures using technical manuals, charts, and your own experience.
Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services according to the equipment specifications.
Diagnose and resolve problems, and conduct adjustments, repairs, and overhauls on a wide range of equipment, including but not limited to diesel, gasoline, four and two-stroke engines, snow groomers with Hydrostatic systems, Marine inboard and outboard engines, ATV UTV motorcycle and snowmobiles.
Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, electrical, computerized, hydrostatic, hydraulic, and other system components in various specialized equipment.
Must be willing to work in inclement weather and occasional nights and weekends.
Inspect, test, repair, and rebuild defective mechanical parts in electric motors and related machinery using an array of hand and power tools.
Manage and maintain repair shop equipment, including both manual and pneumatic tools, while also handling parts ordering and maintaining basic equipment records.
Work effectively within a team to ensure the success of maintenance and service operations.
Assemble and disassemble equipment and components, including performing necessary bodywork.
Conduct welding, soldering, brazing, grinding, and fabrication tasks using a variety of materials.
