The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a challenging and diverse employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to fill the position of Office Technician II at the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf. This position is located in Salt Lake City.

Principal Duties:
As an Office Technician II you will:

Assists and provides clerical support and receptionist duties for the Salt Lake Campus of USDB
Answers telephone, takes messages, and directs calls appropriately
Helps visitors check in, signs for deliveries, and directs people as they come onto campus
Does filing; uses various office machines to copy and collate documents, send faxes, and perform similar office tasks
Prepares monthly activity calendars
Supports community and family communication through maintaining social media sites for JMS such as Facebook and Twitter, bulletin boards, flyers, etc.
Communicates clearly and effectively with public, parents, staff, etc.
Coordinates JMS fleet vehicles and services
Prepares various documents as requested using a personal computer and applicable computer software programs
Proofreads documents, reviewing, refining, and correcting as necessary to ensure proper spelling, grammar, format, arrangement of material, and conformity with standard acceptable English
Performs other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate will possess:Broad practical skills in providing general clerical production and support services
Practical skills in general office procedures and practices
Preparing and reviewing data on forms, written communications, etc.
Use of general office equipment
Broad computer skills and knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel, and knowledge of, or willingness to learn Timms, SharePoint and InfoPath
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; communicate clearly and effectively
Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
Conversational skills in American Sign Language (ASL) are required
Successful completion of criminal background check

Supplemental Information

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
This is a full-time, twelve month per year position. Work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
