Have you fallen into a rut? Are you tired of the same old routine? The Licensing and Compliance Division within the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services invites you to consider an employment opportunity as a Licensing and Compliance Specialist.

The DABS is seeking a talented, organized and professional individual to become a Licensing and Compliance Specialist.

As a Licensing and Compliance Specialist, you will:
Ensure compliance with state laws, and department rules and regulations.
Monitor existing licenses and permits, including visiting sites.
Review applications for new licenses, permits, and one-time events.
Provide training for the public.
The Ideal Candidate will:
Have research and investigation experience.
Have experience in reading and applying laws, rules and policies.
Have experience conducting financial audits.
Is Customer Service-oriented, as we work to introduce and implement our “Starting From a Place of Yes” philosophy.
Be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written form with a diverse population.
Be able to present themselves in a professional manner in varying types of venues such as any establishment where liquor is sold.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite.
Be able to travel as needed, to include overnight stays.
Have a valid Driver License.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
Be able to pass a background check.
Preference(s):
Preference may be given to current DABS employees.
Preference may be given to those who have a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Business, Accounting or Finance.
Preference may be give to those who are fluent in a second language.

Example of Duties
Other duties include:

Maintain and/or create files or record keeping systems.
Travel within the state to review license applications and conduct audits of licensed establishments.
Review data, records, and files for detail and accuracy.
Act as an expert witness by giving testimony and /or recommendations in court cases and/or hearings.
Conduct training to educate licensee managers and staff members about compliance with 32B of the Utah State Code.

Audits are performed in the establishments where alcohol is sold. Employees must be able to interact comfortably with diverse customer groups.
