The position may be underfilled as a Caseworker III (Starting salary $31.49 – $39.46) upon the qualifications of the applicant. Caseworker III shall be Licensed as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor or a Certified Social Worker or Associate Marriage Family Therapist.

Note: If this position is filled as a Caseworker III, the selected candidate shall obtain full license as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Mental Health Counselor within thirty (30) months from date of hire.

Join our team to help improve lives and create a safer Utah. As a licensed clinical therapist with the Department of Corrections, you will provide group and individual therapy to individuals under the supervision of the Department of Corrections in our substance use treatment programs. Treatment is evidence-based and has shown to be effective with a criminal justice population. You also practice through a trauma-informed and gender-responsive lens. Typical duties include assessments, documentation of client interactions, and treatment and discharge planning.
This is a full-time position with state employee benefits.
Individuals with 0-4 years of licensure as a mental health professional, the hourly rate will be approximately $33.90
Individuals with 5-9 years of licensure as a mental health professional, the hourly rate will be approximately $35.59
Individuals with 10+ years of licensure as a mental health professional, the hourly rate will be approximately $37.29
Individuals with a provisional license as a mental health professional, the hourly rate will be approximately $31.49

Candidates for this Position Must Have:
A Master’s Degree in a clinical mental health field i.e. social work, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy.
A license to practice in Utah in one of the fields listed above.
The ability to balance group and individual sessions while keeping up on documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Be trauma informed
Familiar with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Social Learning Theory.
Able to work well individually and on a team
Have a working knowledge of the ASAM
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Skilled in de-escalation techniques

Examples of Duties
Facilitate cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma groups
Provide individual counseling sessions
Conduct clinical assessments
Create relevant and individualized treatment and discharge/transition plans
Perform ASAM assessments and recommend the appropriate level of care
Collaborate with a team of mental health professionals as well as correctional staff
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of the treatment episode
If fully licensed you may be asked to supervise student interns

Retirement – Utah Retirement Systems (URS):
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off:
Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
We have 12 paid holidays.

License as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Mental Health Counselor required. If the position is filled as a Caseworker III (Starting Salary $31.97) the selected candidate shall obtain full license as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Mental Health Counselor within thirty (30) months from date of hire.
This position is NOT public safety certified and does not require peace officer status or certification.
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Salary ranges specified reflect a minimum starting and top of range dollar amount. Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
