The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is looking for a motivated developer to grow with our small & friendly team assisting the great people of Utah with employment opportunities! This is a state position with all of the great benefits of state employment, including a hybrid telework opportunity. Our team is currently enhancing our job search application while also rewriting our worker system into a web-based Angular / Java system, giving our staff great opportunities to enhance their development skills.

Business need of position: The UWORKS development team is an application group under the Workforce Development Division (WDD) within the Department of Workforce Services (DWS). They enhance and maintain websites and applications for both internal and external customers for DWS. The team provides programming support for all WDD web projects and internal applications and will be an integral part in modernizing the current UWORKS application.

This job may be filled at either of the levels listed below. (Rate as listed or in accordance with DHRM Rules for current state employees.)
Information Technology Analyst III, $37.52 – $63.77 per hour
Information Technology Analyst II, $31.65 – $53.80 per hour
Ideal Candidate:

Following are desirable qualifications we are looking for in an ideal candidate:Proficiency in Web development
Good understanding of Java fundamentals
Understanding of RESTful web services/APIs
Basic SQL / PL/SQL knowledge
Proficient understanding of designing and implementing relational databases
Experience using source control management tools
Analytical and detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced problem-solving skill

Example of Duties
Primary Duties:

Design and code user infaces in a web application.
Ensure code follows best development and security practices.
Work with the customers to support production systems, including debugging and assisting in fixing production problems.
Suggest, evaluate, and integrate new tools, technologies, and techniques.
Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
Participate in the design process and document design changes. Participate in design reviews.
Code and test changes, participating in code reviews.
