Are you passionate about promoting access to healthcare in rural and underserved communities and have strong program management skills? Well, this position with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services – Primary Care and Rural Health may be just what you are looking for! Our Health Program Specialist will be an integral member of the Workforce Development Team, and will be relied upon to provide technical assistance, support, and monitoring of workforce development programs throughout the State of Utah. You will manage, support and monitor several programs that help recruit and retain healthcare providers to work in rural and underserved areas, reduce their educational debt, and address Utah’s ongoing healthcare workforce shortages. As PCRH’s outreach lead, you will also manage our website, listserv, and data portal.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
As a valued member of our team you will:
Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare employers and other key stakeholders in rural and underserved areas.
Provide ongoing support to the Advisory Committees for two state-funded loan repayment programs, as well as technical assistance for prospective and participating healthcare providers and their employers.
Manage OPCRH’s website, listserv, and data portal.
Lead PCRH’s outreach efforts through a monthly newsletter and other targeted communications with stakeholders and partners.
Compile and analyze data and content for reports for federal and state funding for healthcare workforce programs.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our ideal candidate will have:
Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs.
Familiarity with outreach tools like WordPress, Constant Contact, and Survey Monkey.
Experience analyzing data and developing reports with Microsoft Excel or similar programs.
Experience providing technical assistance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERENCES
The following experience or skills may be of benefit to you, but the absence of them will not, in any way, exclude you from consideration. The hiring manager may identify additional related skills and requirements as preferences in making hiring and promotion decisions.
Experience with health workforce programs;
Experience working with rural or underserved populations;
Experience managing federal grants, including ensuring compliance with grant requirements;
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Health Promotion and Education, Public Administration, or related field.

Supplemental Information
 

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Occasional in state, out of state, overnight and weekend travel may be required.
If offered this position, your continued employment will be contingent upon passing a background check and review. This check will include fingerprinting at various UHHS locations for your convenience.
