The Department of Health and Human Services Correctional Health Services (CHS) is looking for a Finance Manager 1.The basic duties behind this position are:

Track and reconcile fixed assets.
Coordinates and submits contracts.
Oversees the purchasing and payables program for the division.
Provide and track financial data reports as requested by division leadership.
Ensures the division adheres to State and Department financial policy and procedures.
Supervises the division’s financial staff.

High working level of accounting, analysis, organization, communication and creativity.
Knowledge and operation of accounting systems, auditing theory and practices, debt management, unclaimed property, special projects and research assigned from management are needed.
An understanding of state and department accounting policy and procedures

Responsibilities
 

Manages special fiscal projects or activities of a highly specialized nature (review/control of internal services and trust funds, development of forms/reports, etc.)
Manages accounting or budget activities and provides fiscal information.
Develops or modifies rules, policies, standards, etc.
Performs analysis by applying appropriate protocols in analyzing data and reaching accurate conclusions.
Interprets, clarifies, explains, and applies agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
Analyzes, summarizes and reviews data, reports findings, interprets results, and makes recommendations.
Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
Reviews fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
