DIRECTOR
UTAH CENTER for GLOBAL TALENT & NEW AMERICANS
 

The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) seeks a dynamic, experienced director to lead its Center for Global Talent and New Americans. The director hired for this critical role will help foster economic growth and community integration by attracting and retaining global talent and supporting New Americans.
 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative strategies to:
Attract Global Talent—In partnership with Utah companies, communities, and professional associations, design and execute programs to recruit and retain highly skilled foreign workers, addressing the unique needs of Utah’s businesses.
Support New Americans—Facilitate the integration of New Americans into the Utah workforce and community, providing resources and support to overcome barriers.
Contribute to Immigration Policy—Collaborate with state and federal policymakers to shape immigration laws and regulations that benefit Utah’s economy and society.
 

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership—Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the center, aligning with GOEO’s mission and goals.
Program Development and Implementation—Oversee developing, launching, and managing programs and initiatives to support global talent and New Americans.
Stakeholder Engagement—Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including businesses, community organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions.
Policy Analysis and Advocacy—Monitor federal and state immigration policies, identifying opportunities to advocate for Utah’s interests.
Team Management—Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Budget Management—Manage the center’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Data Analysis and Reporting—Utilize data to inform decision-making, measure program impact, and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
 

Qualifications
Education—The state does not require degrees but does value experience and knowledge in business, public administration, international relations, or related fields.
Experience—Significant experience (10 years or more) in economic development, workforce development, or immigration policy.
Knowledge—Deep understanding of immigration integration, immigration law, labor market trends, and global talent strategies.
Skills—Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to build consensus and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Cultural Competence—Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
