Criminal Information Technician I- Support Services

Support Services Section:

The main purpose of the Support Services section is to provide advanced level customer service support. Duties may include receipting firearms applications, taking fingerprints, opening, sorting, and delivering mail throughout the division, assisting both walk-in and telephone customers with requests, processing criminal history applications, and researching information in the Utah Criminal Justice Information System (UCJIS) and criminal history databases, as well as other duties that may be assigned.

Principal Duties:
Assist both walk-in and telephone customers.
Receive firearms applications.
Fingerprint customers.
Open, sort and distribute mail.
Research information and criminal histories.

Review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness.
Maintain confidentiality.
Follow written and/or oral instructions.
Search, retrieve and/or research public and private records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws governing access to these records.
Draft correspondence, reports, documents or other written materials.
Ensure that agency and/or state records are properly classified, processed and controlled.
Supplemental Information:
The chosen candidate must pass the Utah Bureau of Identification Proficiency test within probationary period and maintain certification thereafter.

A successful candidate may series promote to a Criminal Information Tech II after completing probation and necessary training.
The work hours will be 8:15am to 5:15pm
