BUSINESS DATA ANALYST
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is seeking a Business Data Analyst to join our dynamic team! The Business Data Analyst, among other duties, will assist with election data analysis, audits, compliance, exports, and various data-related tasks required by our office. The Business Data Analyst will also assist with report generation, including ad hoc reports, that support the state, counties, and municipalities. The Business Data Analyst will also assist with external data interfaces to and from our election management system.
This job will require 2-3 days in the office per week, with the option to work remotely for the remaining days of the week. (upon manager’s approval). There are certain periods, such as the legislative session and around each election, that will require adjustments to this arrangement.
Principal Duties
Design, develop, test, and implement various reports and extracts.
Perform analysis by applying appropriate protocols in analyzing data and reaching accurate conclusions.
Collect data and check for data accuracy; identify quality issues and report them as directed.
Use data and create reports to analyze voter registration to identify areas for maintenance and cleanup.
Create, test, and implement accurate database queries for use in analysis.
Using various data sets, perform analysis to ensure compliance with law and rules. Identify and report on anomalies found in the data sets.
Design and/or use questionnaires, surveys or other instruments used in the collection and analysis of data.
Make recommendations and present findings to senior management and other stakeholders.
Communicate complex, technical information and ideas in non-technical terms both in writing and verbally.
Create charts, graphs, infographics, reports etc. to visually present data to stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
A minimum of four years professional experience with relational databases and the SQL programming language
Experience with one or more other programming languages (C, C#, Java, etc.)
Proficient in IDEs and database tools
Experience with creating executive summary reports
Experience working in and around elections with a knowledge of Utah law
Superior attention to detail
Exceptional organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Adaptability and comfort in an evolving workplace
Proactive, problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and to work under a deadline
