Principal Duties
As an Apprentice Maintenance Specialist, you will:Work independently and with journey-level employees on maintenance projects.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
Repair and/or perform preventative maintenance on buildings.
Paint, finish and refinish wood, metal and other materials.
Weld, solder, braze, and/or grind various materials.
Build, fabricate, or repair structures from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings.
Provide technical consultation to originators of project job orders, including development of project plans and related estimates.

The Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate for this position will have:Experience in building/facility maintenance.
Experience in one or more of the following:plumbing
electrical
welding
painting
construction
hand tools
power tools

The Agency/Division
The Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM) is dedicated to providing professional services to assist State entities in meeting their facility needs for the benefit of the public, and is the building manager for all State owned facilities.

 

Supplemental Information
 

Working Conditions: Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, etc.
Physical Requirements: The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, etc.
Must be available for on-call.
Must have a driver’s license.
DHRM rules apply to promotions/transfers.
