The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the Agency Privacy Officer position. Incumbent assigned will coordinate and manage the Data Governance and Information Privacy program for DABS. Incumbent will assess, develop and implement agency privacy policies, procedures and processes to ensure that the agency meets privacy practice key performance indicators (KPI) and metrics. Assist Agency Security Manager to ensure that the agency is compliant with applicable federal and state regulations and guidelines, particularly regarding the agency’s access to and use of personal identifiable information (PII). The incumbent assigned to this position will assist in a combination of tasks at the agency information security level. Incumbent may perform any of the following functions: assist in other required regulatory audits, review information security vulnerabilities and risk assessments, multi-factor authentication, monitor server and user device vulnerabilities.

Principal Duties

As Privacy Officer, you may be responsible for performing the following tasks:

Implement and complete PII compliance activities, including record series creation, classification.
Participate in the fulfillment of public information requests (if needed)
Create and maintain DABS PII inventory.
Perform privacy threshold analysis on DABS data.
Perform privacy impact assessments (PIA) on DABS data processing activities.
Participate in ensuring all data sharing agreements include required privacy and security terms and conditions.
Assist with defining and assessing privacy controls to be implemented in IT systems.
May create, manage and implement Privacy and GRAMA related policies and procedures for DABS.
Participate in incident response processes that may include PII.
May implement and manage record retention and destruction processes and procedures.
Participate in Privacy government activities to ensure personal information is appropriately managed through the entire data life cycle.
May create workforce privacy training materials and work with the agencyTraining Coordinator.
Represent DABS in statewide privacy governance, standardization and assessment activities.
Utilize GRC solutions such as RSA Archer to implement, manage and track the DABS privacy program components.
 

The Ideal Candidate
The model candidate for this position is someone who:
Has experience, credentials, or degree in Information Systems, Information Assurances, Data Management or a similar field.
Has knowledge, skills and abilities related to:
Information Security or Privacy
Writing Policy and Procedures Documents
Information Technology Infrastructure
Maintains confidentiality.
Is skilled with using Microsoft Office to create and prepare documents.
Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing.
Is adept at dealing with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
Is able to pass a criminal background check.
