The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill a Professional Development Program Specialist position in the Office of Child Care (OCC) Division.Principal DutiesThe Professional Development Program Specialist will perform the following tasks: Collaborate and hold regular meetings with representatives from statewide training agencies, such as Care About Childcare agencies, to ensure consistency, excellence and integrity within the statewide professional development system.Maintain and revise the professional development system policy for the Office of Child Care.Monitor contracts pertaining to professional development, including contract creation, budget analysis and invoice approval.Utilize data and community input to inform decision-making regarding the statewide professional development system.Analyze, summarize and review data and report findings to make recommendations related to professional development.Facilitate and attend meetings to collaborate with community partners and stakeholders on youth and early childhood professional development projects and initiatives.Manage and administer programs and initiatives related to higher education opportunities for youth and early learning professionals.Create and revise online and print consumer outreach materials related to professional development in collaboration with the DWS Communications division.Work in coordination with supervisor and colleagues to ensure that training curriculum and training system support Office of Child Care initiatives. Present at local conferences to educate the early childhood workforce on current scholarships, financial incentives and professional development opportunities.Write or adapt curriculum for non-traditional, adult learners based on state competencies and learning guidelines for early childhood and youth care.The Ideal ApplicantThe model applicant for this position is someone who: Has worked in the field of early childhood education, education, adult education, instructional design and/or has a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Has paid experience working with young children and has extensive knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice for ages birth to twelve.Has exemplary editing and writing skills. Has instructional design skills. Is skilled at creating professional documents in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Is comfortable using technology: shared drives, cloud storing systems, web-based meeting platforms. Is able to communicate ideas professionally and concisely both verbally and in writing. Is able to source, incorporate and properly document research when writing curriculum. Possesses effective presentation skills that engage and motivate audiences. Can organize and manage multiple projects and timelines.
