The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) is actively seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to assume the role of Vocational Rehabilitation – High School Transition Counselor. This position is office-based, located in Centerville, Utah. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in supporting and collaborating with Local Education Agencies, responsible for overseeing the delivery of transition services to students with disabilities.

Principal Duties
The High School Transition Services Counselor performs the following tasks:
Develops and fosters relationships with schools and recruits’ students for pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS).
Identifies individual student needs and provides individualized Pre-ETS to students.
Provides career exploration services and workplace readiness skills training to students with disabilities.
Assists students in strengthening their self-advocacy skills related to employment and job seeking.
Arranges job exploration and work-based learning experience opportunities such as job shadows, internships and informational interviews.
Helps students explore postsecondary education opportunities such as college and technical programs.
Provides coordinated
Refers students with disabilities to Pre-ETS contractors when appropriate.
Conducts case management duties, including entering new students in the database system and scanning and upload documents to student casefiles.
Coordinates the transition of clients for
Assists people in a manner which shows sensitivity, empathy, and professionalism.

This position may be under-filled as a Rehabilitation Counselor I or a Rehabilitation Trainee.
Rehabilitation Trainee – BS Degree – No work related experience – $20.42.
Rehabilitation Counselor I – BS Degree + 1 year work related experience – $22.45.
Rehabilitation Counselor II – Masters in VRC or related field + 1 year work related experience – $24.66.
Minimum Requirements
The model applicant for this position is someone who:
Experience working with students with disabilities.
Willing to travel.
Detail oriented and able to work independently.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
