The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking to fill an Assistant Caseworker position at the women’s domestic violence (DV) shelter in Price.

The domestic violence (DV) shelter in Price houses women only. We are looking only for female applicants. Also, the DV shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the employee will be expected to work SOME weekends, holidays and nights.

Principle Duties
The employee works under close supervision of licensed staff/management, helps facilitate the running of the women’s domestic violence shelter. This includes case documentation (intake records, case histories, activity logs, needs assessments, and correspondence, etc.), transportation of clients, and maintaining the physical facility. Collects and reviews client information for determining eligibility for services provided by the agency. Assist clients in safety planning, education, and advocacy. Assists professional staff in implementing and following policies and procedures. May need knowledge of Title XIX and/or Title IV-E, laws governing access to public and private records. Requires a valid driver’s license for transporting clients.

Provide supervision and support to families utilizing the shelters services.
Provide technical assistance on agency issues, services, program(s), and/or computer hardware and software, etc.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files and retrieves documents, or other materials.
Maintain the facility, including but not limited to, cleaning and maintaining licensing standards.

Minimum Qualifications
These are knowledge, skills and abilities required of the job.

experience working in an office environment and ability to work well with others
good computer skills, particularly with word processing and spreadsheet software
use State or agency-specific software application program(s)
awareness of domestic violence dynamics
ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
use an automated records management system
applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures
assemble, sort, and/or distribute documents, supplies, and/or materials/items
customer service skills, basic accounting skills, basic computer and internet skills
principles, theories, and practices of records management

This position works at the domestic violence (DV) shelter in Price which houses women only. We are looking only for female applicants.

All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).

The DV shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the employee will be expected to work SOME weekends, holidays and nights. The employee may work varying hours, depending on the coverage needed due to holidays or employee leave requests. Most shifts will be pre-scheduled, with the possibility of occasional short-notice needs, due to emergency or unforeseen circumstances which require shift coverage.

Physical Requirements: Moderate – Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift or move moderately heavy items such as furniture from time to time. May sit comfortably to perform part of the work. There may be times when the employee will be required to drive an automobile.

Working Conditions: Special Risks – Risks which require the use of special safety precautions such as working inside and outside a women’s shelter (moving furniture, snow removal, yard care, laundry, cleaning etc.), working with women who have relocated and have been traumatized, etc.
