The John and Marcia Price College of Engineering is looking for an experienced instructor for technical writing and communication courses. The college serves eight departments and programs. The Communications, Leadership, Ethics, and Research (CLEAR) instructors develop curriculum and content for classwork, lectures and workshops in technical writing and presentations, teamwork, and ethics in collaboration with departments in the college. Works with department faculty, staff and students to ensure departmental and college objectives for curriculum and assessment are achieved. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities
The CLEAR Program at the University of Utah’s John and Marcia Price College of Engineering prepares engineering undergraduates for success in their careers through improving their written and oral communication, teamwork skills and ethical understanding.
An Associate Instructor will:
Work with one or more departments in the College to develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in technical writing, speaking, leadership, ethics and teamwork.
Deliver instruction in writing and communications through lectures, individual coaching, meetings and workshops.
Collaborate with the College and department administrators and other CLEAR instructors to formulate and modify curricula in accordance with College and department objectives and requirements (e.g., ABET criteria).
Work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to create and implement methods to collect data on student skill development and program effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Candidates should have an aptitude for writing and communications. A Ph.D. or other terminal degree is preferred. Experience in engineering, science or other technical writing is also strongly preferred. Related experience in teaching, instructional design and assessment is preferred. Demonstrated organizational ability, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work independently and in a team setting are required.
