The Office of Legislative Services (LSO) is a non-partisan office that provides internal support to the entire legislative branch. LSO provides support in varying ways, such as human resource functions, finance, IT services, printing, and more! As an internal support office, we look for individuals who embody a customer service mindset and demonstrate our values of Respect, Innovation, Service, and Excellence (RISE).We are seeking to fill our temporary General Session Bill Room Clerk position. This non-partisan position is located in the State of Utah Legislative Printing Unit and is Exempt from the Executive Branch Merit Service. The incumbent provides administrative support such as answering phones, balancing a cash register, assisting with tracking, posting and filing of legislative information, research on the legislative website, deliveries, and other duties as assigned. The incumbent will also act as a distribution point for legislative information and publications for the Legislature as well as legislative staff, state agencies, the public, and lobbyists.There is no remote option for this position and work is required to be conducted in person.EXPECTED SCHEDULE: This position has flexible hours and may work up to 40 hours per week. However, as the General Session comes to a close (late February to early March), there may be a need for the incumbent to work more than 40 hours a week to meet the needs of the Legislature.To be considered for this position, an applicant must be available to work throughout the duration of the General Session. Work is expected to begin on January 13th, 2025, and end on March 7th, 2025.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Logs and tracks the receipt of bills from the print shop; distributes bills to boxes and files them in numbered bins.Assists internal and external customers with completing print request forms.Distributes legislative information to walk in customers who may include the public, lobbyists, legislators, legislative interns, private interns, and the press.Utilizes a cash register and performs general office tasks as assigned.
